The WEAVERs are a group of women who have experienced domestic, family violence and/or sexual violence and who play a role in ‘weaving’ lived experience into research and training at the University of Melbourne. 

Each year the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence the UNiTE campaign has a new theme. In 2024 the theme drew attention to the alarming escalation of violence against women under the theme, “Every [11] Minutes, a woman is killed. #NoExcuse. UNiTE to End Violence against Women”. A number of our talented WEAVERs have 'united' via their art. In recent decades, art has become well recognised as a powerful form of therapy.

The second online art exhibition our first was held online in 2023. 2023 theme was 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence being "UNITE! Invest to prevent violence against women and girls", a number of our talented WEAVERs have 'united' via their art. In recent decades, art has become well recognised as a powerful form of therapy.
