Launch of the Coercive- Composite Abuse Scale (C-CAS)

Twenty-five years after the release of the Composite Abuse Scale, developed by Kelsey Hegarty we are proud to launch the Coercive-Composite Abuse Scale
The original Composite Abuse Scale has been widely regarded as a gold standard for measuring intimate partner abuse and has been used extensively in research and practice around the world. We hope this new scale will have a similar impact.

Capturing survivors' comprehensive and multidimensional experiences of abuse by current and former partners is more important than ever. The Coercive-Composite Abuse Scale recognises that coercive control is not experienced as isolated acts of violence, but as a pattern of behaviours that affect every aspect of a person's life.
By providing a more holistic measure of coercive control and abuse, the scale will support research, policy and prevention efforts that target the full experience of abuse, rather than examining different forms of intimate partner violence in isolation.
