Paving the way forward for a stronger primary care response to domestic and family violence

Join us for an important dialogue on strengthening primary care pathways for supporting families affected by domestic and family violence (DFV).

AIMS:

  • Discuss findings and implications from DFV training for the primary care workforce: The Readiness Program Final Report.

  • Learn about a world-first research trial of the impacts on women victim-survivors from a novel primary care system response: The Women’s Emotional Well-Being (WEB) project.

    • Engage with us to explore the elements of developing and trialling a Medicare item number for family safety assessment planning using a GP clinical decision tool.

    • Explore opportunities for an innovative peer care navigator program to support women and discuss what survivors are saying they need from health practitioners.

  • Understand the role of Safer Families Centre and opportunities for further training and collaboration.

Opening Address by The Hon. Ged Kearney, Assistant Minister for Health and Aged Care

The Assistant Minister will release the final report from The Readiness Program and launch the Safer Families Centre’s exciting new MRFF project: Women’s Emotional Well-Being (WEB) Project, which aims to strengthen primary care to sustainably address DFV.

An interactive discussion between our panellists and audience members about the outcomes, implications, challenges and learnings from National DFV training program for primary vcare, The Readiness Program.

Women’s Emotional Well-Being (WEB) Project: Launch

This project is funded through the Medical Research Future Fund Primary Healthcare Grant and will be the first in the world to evaluate an innovative primary care intervention to improve the safety, health and wellbeing of families.
