What’s the project about?

  • Aims to implement an innovative realist approach to knowledge translation with an interdisciplinary research network.

  • The Safer Families Centre of Research Excellence research network provides the context for this study.

During the last decade, the link between research and knowledge translation has been the centre of much attention.  A considerable amount of literature has also been published on domestic violence. However, there is very little published research on the evaluation of domestic violence knowledge translation.

The proposed study aims to implement an innovative action research approach (with a realist lens) to knowledge translation with an interdisciplinary research network (including lived experience participants) researching domestic violence.

Data collection will include observations, surveys and interviews.

This study has the potential to benefit researchers, practitioners and policy makers by ensuring information regarding domestic violence is translated effectively with continued impact. Equally, it will add considerable value to the growing body of knowledge translation and realist literature internationally, especially in regards to the value of lived experience participants actively participating in knowledge translation research.

What can we expect to come out of this project?

This study has the potential to benefit researchers, practitioners and policy makers by ensuring that information regarding domestic violence is translated effectively and continues to have an impact into the future whilst providing an effective model to do so. Equally it will add considerable value to the growing body of integrated knowledge translation literature internationally, especially in regards to the value of lived experience participants actively participating in integrated knowledge translation research.

What has this project achieved so far?

A realist review has been completed. The program theory from this review has also been tested with the Safer Families Centre of Research Excellence.
