Prof Stephanie Brown

Stephanie Brown is a social epidemiologist and health services researcher whose work focuses on improving the health and wellbeing of children, young people and families and reducing social inequity. Stephanie trained originally as a social historian and worked in policy and the community sector before retraining in public health.

 She established and leads the Intergenerational Health group at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, and is also Co-convenor of the Institute’s Aboriginal Health Program. Her team are working with Aboriginal communities, refugee communities and women and children exposed to family violence to address gaps in evidence regarding effective intervention strategies to promote resilience and enable healing and recovery from the effects of trauma and family violence.

 Stephanie is Co-Director of the Safer Families Centre and Director of the Stronger Futures CRE. Stephanie is passionate about what can be achieved when great minds come together and work collaboratively for health systems and social change to reduce health inequity.
