Program Project A5:

Early identification: is fear of partner an effective question to identify IPV?

Description: Asking about fear of partner has been found acceptable to women and health practitioners, however there has not been a rigorous evaluation of its sensitivity and specificity against a comprehensive measure of intimate partner violence, the Composite Abuse Scale, which is viewed as a gold standard in the field. This project will determine how accurately two item measures asking about fear of an intimate partner identify women and children exposed to different types of abuse.

Outcomes:  Publication on utility of asking about fear of partner as a clinical identification tool.
